Preparing Your Buildings for Climate Challenges
Thursday, January 31st, 9-10 AM
A Better City, 33 Broad Street, 3rd Floor, Boston
We have seen a lot of work over the last few years to determine the climate risks projected for Boston. But do you know how these will affect your buildings?
Over the last year, A Better City and researchers at Cadmus have been working on a project for the Boston Green Ribbon Commission to develop a Climate Resilience Template for Buildings. The template serves as a guide for commercial real estate property owners and managers to help prepare their individual facilities for climate change and includes topics such as: creating an internal team; identifying climate risks; establishing a property baseline; conducting a vulnerability analysis; researching solutions; prioritizing strategies; identifying financing and incentives; creating an implementation plan; and implementing, evaluating and communicating. It compiles existing best practice resources and includes new guidance to aid decision-making and resilience project implementation. It also includes a vendor list for climate resiliency services and an excel worksheet that organizations can use to capture the data specific to their properties' climate risks and vulnerabilities.
Come and learn about the template with Liz Hanson, Senior Analyst, Cadmus, and Yve Torrie, A Better City. We will walk you through the template and ask you to consider piloting it in 2019!
Breakfast will be provided.
